Additional Details

Exploration Award Purpose: This award is designed for projects that are in the early stages of conceptualization. If you have an idea but have not yet begun significant work on it, the Exploration award is ideal. It allows applicants to develop their project idea further, explore different approaches, and gather necessary resources. Funding: The maximum award for Exploration is $30,000. This increase from previous years is aimed at providing more substantial support for initiating projects. Duration: The period of performance for an Exploration award is up to one year. This duration gives grantees enough time to lay the groundwork for their project, which could include activities like planning, conducting preliminary research, and establishing partnerships (NEH) (NJIT Research). Development Award Purpose: The Development award is intended for projects that have moved beyond the initial idea stage and have already taken some steps towards implementation. This could include projects that have done preliminary research, started initial planning, or have formed partnerships and are ready to make significant progress. Funding: The maximum award for Development is $60,000. This level of funding is intended to support more advanced projects that are closer to realization and require resources to push them towards completion. Duration: The period of performance for a Development award is up to two years. This longer timeframe allows for more in-depth work, including the full development of a curriculum, creation of teaching resources, or extensive community engagement (NJIT Research).
