TWAC Microgrant Program

The Woodlands Arts Council (TWAC) offers Microgrant programs designed to support creative and impactful arts education and access in Montgomery County, Texas. Since 2010, TWAC has provided over $210,000 in funding through these microgrants. The program includes two distinct funding opportunities: The Dr. David Gottlieb Arts Education Microgrant and The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion Performing Arts Microgrant. These awards support projects in visual, literary, and performing arts, with specific funding partnerships enhancing opportunities in the performing arts. The Dr. David Gottlieb Microgrant targets front-line educators and staff who directly instruct or counsel students in the arts, as well as employees of public, private, and nonprofit institutions. The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion Performing Arts Microgrant, in partnership with the Pavilion, adds funding earmarked for performing arts projects, expanding overall impact in the region. Both microgrants aim to promote innovation, student engagement, and collaboration among educators and community groups. Priority is given to proposals that reflect in-depth knowledge, creative teaching methods, and the potential to motivate students to exceed expectations. Grants range from $250 to $5,000 and may be partially funded depending on project scope. The application period for the 2025–2026 grant cycle opens on September 5, 2025, and closes on October 5, 2025. Applications must include a project narrative detailing the audience, objectives, budget, and projected timeline. A letter of recommendation from a school principal or organizational executive is also required and must be submitted by the deadline. Only complete applications will be considered. Funding decisions will be announced by December 3, 2025. Award recipients will receive a contract and must accept the terms before checks are mailed, typically by early January. Projects must be completed within the calendar year awarded, and grantees are required to submit a final report within 30 days of project completion. This report will evaluate the impact and effectiveness of the funded effort. Applications are reviewed by a committee, and applicants may be contacted for interviews or follow-up questions. Final decisions rest with the TWAC Board of Directors. Recipients may be asked to sign documentation related to intellectual property and allow TWAC to use images and materials for promotional purposes.
