Grant Description

The Prince George’s County Council has announced the availability of $500,000 in funding for the Fiscal Year 2026 Domestic Violence Grant Program. This marks the eighth year of the program, which is dedicated to addressing domestic violence through direct services, prevention efforts, and coordinated community responses. The program aims to provide resources to nonprofit organizations serving Prince George’s County by offering support for crisis intervention, survivor services, and prevention activities that enhance family stability and community safety. The purpose of this program is to ensure that survivors of domestic violence and their families have access to both immediate and long-term support. Funded services may include crisis counseling, emergency shelter, case management, legal advocacy, and programs that promote economic empowerment and stability. The County Council emphasizes that funding can also be used for prevention services such as education campaigns, public awareness initiatives, and culturally appropriate support that reflects the diverse needs of county residents. Programs are expected to improve survivor well-being and strengthen resilience across the community. Applicants must be nonprofit organizations that promote comprehensive domestic violence programs and collaborative community responses within Prince George’s County. Each organization is required to submit applications electronically through the Grants Management System. No hard copy submissions will be accepted. Organizations that received FY 2025 funding must have submitted all required progress reports to remain eligible. Required documentation includes IRS verification forms, tax-exempt status letters, board lists, financial statements, and independent audits where applicable. Applications must also demonstrate organizational capacity, fiscal management, and clear plans for sustaining programs beyond the grant period. The application window opens on September 4, 2025, and closes on October 2, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. A virtual Pre-Proposal Conference is scheduled for September 25, 2025, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., with RSVPs due by September 22, 2025. All applications must be submitted in GMS, and applicants will receive confirmation receipts upon submission. Grant awardees will be notified no later than November 18, 2025, and funded programs are expected to begin within the first two weeks of January 2026. Funds must be expended within two years of receipt. The review process will evaluate applications on organizational strength, program design, collaboration, financial management, and expected outcomes. Successful proposals must align with the goals of the County Council, including improving housing stability, providing access to counseling and workforce development, enhancing advocacy and legal services, and preventing cycles of domestic violence. Priority consideration will be given to applications that demonstrate strong collaboration with community partners and a clear alignment with county priorities. Applicants seeking accommodations for participation, such as ASL interpretation or captioning, may contact Cheryl Taylor, the Grants Coordinator, by email at cataylor@co.pg.md.us by September 22, 2025.
