Grant Description

The Blaustein, Hirschhorn, and Rosenberg foundations, part of the Blaustein Philanthropic Group, collectively award over 500 grants annually across diverse program areas and geographic locations. These foundations focus on social justice, equality of opportunity, and Jewish tradition. Eligible applicants must be nonprofit organizations with 501(c)(3) status or those with fiscal sponsors. Grants can support general operations or specific projects, with a few capital grants available to established partners. Applications involve submitting a Letter of Inquiry (LOI) or full proposal after consulting with a Program Officer. Recognizing that the teenage years are critical in the trajectory of young people, the Foundation invests in youth development programs with a focus on cultivating and honing skills that will serve them into adulthood. The Foundation’s emphasis is on out-of-school-time programs targeting high school students that either provide training in career-related “hard skills” or teach life skills through participation in athletics or the arts. Funded programs must demonstrate evidence of successful outcomes including high school graduation rates, attendance and certification attainment. The Foundation’s youth development grantmaking is limited to organizations in the Baltimore metropolitan region. Typically, the Foundation provides funding support for programs and general operations, but not capital needs.
