Born This Way Foundation’s Kindness in Community Fund supports community-led, youth-focused organizations that deliver accessible mental health resources. The initiative emphasizes identifying and uplifting organizations that are informed or led by young people and committed to inclusive, equitable practices. The fund accepts nominations from youth aged 15–24 who are encouraged to spotlight impactful organizations in their local communities.
Eligible organizations must be based in one of 21 designated countries, including the United States, Canada, Brazil, Germany, and others, and must provide free, community-rooted mental health services. While nominations are welcome from other regions, funding is currently limited to these countries. Nominated organizations must demonstrate youth leadership, inclusivity, and community relevance.
The nomination process is led by young people through a Google Form, which includes basic information about the organization’s mission, services, and youth involvement. Submissions are due by June 30, 2025, at 12 PM PST. Once nominations are reviewed, a shortlist will be developed by the Youth Advisory Board. Shortlisted groups will be invited to submit a streamlined proposal detailing their use of potential funds.
Grant awards may reach up to $150,000 USD per organization, based on the needs and scope described in submitted proposals. Finalists will be selected based on alignment with the fund’s mission, youth engagement, and quality of mental health support provided.
Born This Way Foundation ensures a transparent, youth-centered process and encourages a wide range of nominations, particularly from those aged 15–24. For questions, nominators can reach out to KiC@bornthiswayfoundation.org. The foundation's privacy policy applies to all submissions, and the program operates under the legal jurisdiction of the State of New York.
Greater consideration is given to nominations from youth aged 15–24. Nominations must be submitted via the designated Google Form.
