ACME Foundation Grants

The ACME Markets Foundation, part of the larger Albertsons Companies Foundation, provides grant funding to nonprofit organizations that strengthen the neighborhoods where ACME operates. Its mission centers on bettering the lives of people in local communities by addressing essential needs and fostering inclusion. The Foundation’s philanthropic priorities reflect a commitment to supporting community-based programs that have a tangible impact on residents’ well-being, especially within the geographic footprint of its stores and service areas. The Foundation’s primary funding focus spans four key areas: Health and Human Services, Hunger, Veterans, and Supporting Diversity and Inclusion of All Abilities. Within these focus areas, the Foundation seeks to support organizations that demonstrate measurable outcomes, community engagement, and alignment with its values. Funding is not intended for capital campaigns, religious purposes, or events; rather, it supports direct programmatic services that enhance quality of life and build resilient communities. Special Requests for Proposals (RFPs) may be issued by invitation for targeted causes identified as emerging priorities. Eligible applicants must be nonprofit organizations serving communities in which ACME Markets operates. Applicants are required to demonstrate local impact and alignment with community needs. The Foundation does not fund individuals, political or advocacy activities, sports teams, or for-profit entities. Religious organizations may apply only if the proposed activities are nonsectarian and serve the broader public. All applicants must also adhere to a strict nondiscrimination policy ensuring inclusivity regardless of race, gender, age, disability, or other protected characteristics. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, with requests reviewed monthly. Proposals must be submitted at least thirty days prior to the related event or program start. Once submitted, review and decision notifications typically occur within four weeks. Because this is a continuous review cycle, applicants are encouraged to plan ahead and submit early to accommodate the review period. The Foundation’s grant cycle thus operates year-round, ensuring sustained funding opportunities for local nonprofits. Applications are submitted through the Foundation’s online portal, accessible via the ACME Markets Foundation or Albertsons Companies Foundation websites. Applicants can identify their local eligibility area by selecting their store or location from the online map. Although no specific funding amount ranges are published, awards vary by program scale and alignment with priority areas. The Foundation prefers to allocate funds directly to program services rather than event sponsorships or indirect expenses.
