Rest Haven’s Special Grants 2025
This program provides competitive funding to nonprofit organizations that improve the health of at-risk and underserved children in San Diego and Imperial Counties, California.
The Rest Haven Children’s Health Fund will open its 2025 Special Grants application cycle from March 17 to April 18, 2025. This program provides one-time, competitive grants to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations whose programs are aimed at improving the health of at-risk and underserved children in San Diego or Imperial Counties in California. These Special Grants are part of Rest Haven’s broader mission to ensure that children’s essential health needs are met when no other funding sources are available. Grants are awarded on a competitive basis, with preference given to programs that demonstrate a significant and direct impact on improving children’s health outcomes. Examples of eligible programming may include those addressing medical, dental, vision, mental health, and related social service needs that directly affect children’s well-being. Only organizations with active 501(c)(3) status are eligible to apply. All funded activities must serve children living in either San Diego or Imperial Counties. The grant is not intended for general operating support but for direct program support that aligns with Rest Haven’s goals of reducing health disparities among vulnerable children. In addition to the Special Grants, Rest Haven offers Emergency Referral Grants year-round to address urgent, unmet health needs for individual children who reside in the same two counties. These emergency grants are initiated through a referral process and are meant for cases in which no other public or private funding is available, and the family has a demonstrated financial need. Rest Haven Children’s Health Fund was established in 1909 and continues to serve as a dedicated resource for health-related support for children in Southern California. In 2024, the organization awarded over $213,000 in grants to nonprofits working in this space.
