Solidarity Fund
This fund provides financial support to Louisiana-based nonprofit organizations led by and serving marginalized communities, helping them to host events and activities that promote racial, climate, and criminal justice.
The Solidarity Fund, managed by the Foundation for Louisiana with support from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, provides flexible financial support to Louisiana-based nonprofit organizations. This sponsorship-focused fund aims to expand access to funding for organizations that are often excluded from traditional philanthropy due to systemic inequities such as racism, classism, sexism, ableism, and heterosexism. The Foundation for Louisiana centers its mission on advancing racial justice, climate justice, and criminal justice while supporting community leadership, arts and culture, and economic opportunity. Through the Solidarity Fund, eligible 501(c)(3) organizations or those with a qualifying fiscal sponsor may request up to $25,000 to support events and activities such as community gatherings, fundraisers, awareness campaigns, learning sessions, and organizing events. The fund prioritizes organizations led by and for marginalized communities and accepts applications on a rolling basis as long as funding remains available. To qualify for support, applicants must be located in Louisiana, submit a complete application at least 60 days before the proposed activity, and schedule their event to occur on or before June 30, 2026. Each organization is eligible for only one award during the Foundation for Louisiana’s fiscal year. While the maximum grant amount is $25,000, the average award size is approximately $5,000. Projects ineligible for funding include those that primarily benefit an individual, or requests submitted by or for public or private schools serving grades Pre-K through 12. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and applicants are encouraged to apply well in advance of their event or activity, particularly before December 31, 2025, if seeking event sponsorship. Proposals are assessed on several factors, including alignment with the Foundation’s mission and strategic priorities, the urgency and potential impact of the project, and the feasibility of implementation. The Foundation’s approach to racial justice emphasizes systemic transformation and collective liberation for People of the Global Majority.
