Grant Description

Encompass Health Corporation, one of the nationโ€™s largest providers of inpatient rehabilitation services, is offering a research grant for 2025 aimed at studying the impact and effectiveness of rehabilitation services in inpatient rehabilitation facility (IRF) post-acute care settings. Encompass Health is known for its evidence-based approach to care, delivering advanced therapeutic interventions and consistently outperforming peers in rehabilitation outcomes. This funding opportunity reflects the companyโ€™s ongoing commitment to science-driven healthcare and enhancing evidence that informs clinical practices. The purpose of this grant is to support rigorous research focused on evaluating rehabilitation service outcomes, especially those related to neurological impairments. Other areas of interest include implementation science and knowledge translation research. Applicants may propose studies exploring therapy efficacy, the intensity or mode of rehabilitation, outcomes for patients and caregivers, performance improvement initiatives, or case studies. All proposed studies must exhibit scientific credibility suitable for publication or presentation at clinical conferences. Funding up to $60,000 will be available during this grant cycle. The funds may be distributed among several proposals, and must be used exclusively for direct research costs. Indirect expenses, including facility and administrative costs, are not eligible. Encompass Health employees cannot include salary costs in their applications, as these are handled separately through payroll policies. Documentation of all expenditures is required with the final report, and any unspent funds must be returned to Encompass Health. Extensions to the research timeline may be requested but are not guaranteed. Eligibility is open to researchers based in the United States or Puerto Rico, and the research must also be conducted in these locations. IRB approval and human subject protections are required according to CITI standards. Applicants do not need to be affiliated with Encompass Health to apply. However, if the study is to be conducted in an Encompass Health hospital, approval from the Encompass Health Clinical Research Review Committee is mandatory. To apply, submissions must include a letter of introduction, a completed grant application, a human subject consent form (if applicable), a one-page CV for all investigators, and any relevant IRB documents. The application must clearly detail the research institution, objectives, human subjects plan, data methodology, analysis strategy, and a proposed budget. Proposals are due by September 30, 2025, at 5 p.m. EST and can be emailed to TherapyGrants@encompasshealth.com. Applications will be reviewed and scored by the Encompass Health Grant Selection Committee based on relevance, scientific merit, and feasibility. The final selection will be completed within 30 days after the submission deadline. Award recipients are required to submit annual interim and final reports detailing the research progress, outcomes, and future research considerations. These reports must be emailed to TherapyGrants@encompasshealth.com or Cheryl.miller@encompasshealth.com.
