Grant Description

The Saigh Foundation is a private charitable foundation located in St. Louis, Missouri. Its primary philanthropic mission is to support children and youth within the St. Louis Metropolitan Statistical Area, focusing on improving outcomes in education and healthcare. The foundation honors the legacy of Fred Saigh, a former owner of the St. Louis Cardinals and a committed local philanthropist. All grant activities of the foundation are centered on the geographic and programmatic focus of helping children thrive in the greater St. Louis area. The foundation welcomes grant applications exclusively from nonprofit organizations operating within the St. Louis Metropolitan Statistical Area. It supports initiatives that directly benefit children and youth, especially in the fields of education and healthcare. The Saigh Foundation uses a quarterly review cycle to evaluate applications and encourages organizations to reach out before the deadline if they believe their mission aligns with the foundation’s goals. This initial outreach can lead to a meeting where more information may be exchanged prior to formal submission. The foundation only accepts applications through its designated online portal. The application process requires organizational registration followed by a formal request submission. If a request is approved, grantees must complete a grant agreement and later submit a follow-up report. These two items are only necessary upon grant approval and are managed electronically via prompts sent to the grantee. The foundation explicitly does not fund annual appeals, fundraising dinners or events, capital campaigns, loans or debt repayment, film production, travel costs, or applications from organizations outside the designated St. Louis area. These exclusions are part of the foundation’s commitment to making meaningful and sustainable impact with its limited resources. All grant requests must be submitted by 11:59 PM CST on one of the four annual deadlines to be considered for that quarter's review. Quarterly application deadlines are January 15, April 15, July 15, and October 15. If any of these dates fall on a weekend or holiday, applications are due on the next business day. Notifications regarding application status—whether approved, declined, or deferred—will be issued approximately three months after the submission deadline. Questions regarding the grant or application process can be directed to Julie Hantman, the Assistant Director of The Saigh Foundation. She can be reached by phone at 314-862-3055 or via email at saigh@thesaighfoundation.org. The foundation's office is located at 231 S. Bemiston Avenue, Suite 735, St. Louis, MO 63105. Interested applicants can access the grant portal through the foundation’s website.
