Nathan Cummings Foundation Grant
This funding opportunity supports organizations working to advance racial, economic, and environmental justice through grants and low-interest loans.
The Nathan Cummings Foundation (NCF) is currently accepting proposals for partnerships through its Letters of Inquiry (LOI) portal for the fiscal year 2025. The portal is open from January 16, 2025, through June 30, 2025, and will reopen from October 1, 2025, through December 31, 2025. The portal will remain closed from July 1, 2025, to September 30, 2025, to allow time for assessment and reflection. NCF offers two types of funding opportunities: grants and Program-Related Investments (PRIs), both of which are designed to align with NCF’s focus on advancing racial, economic, and environmental justice (REEJ). The foundation employs a “totality of assets” approach, leveraging both financial and non-financial resources to support partners’ solutions. The grant process is competitive, and funding is limited. Applicants are encouraged to review NCF’s focus areas and FAQs to determine alignment with REEJ goals before submitting a proposal. The LOIs are reviewed on a rolling basis, with decisions anticipated within 12 weeks of submission. However, some funding decisions may take longer. To apply, applicants must complete the following three steps: (1) Review the FAQs and focus areas to determine alignment, (2) Register through the Applicant Portal, and (3) Complete the LOI form. Applicants can access previews of the LOI forms for both grants and PRIs. NCF provides Venture Grants up to $100,000, Advancement Grants up to $250,000, and Enterprise Grants of $250,000 or more. PRI funds, supported by a $22 million commitment from the endowment, provide low-interest loans and other forms of low-cost financing to organizations advancing REEJ. For additional information, applicants can contact Candice Wynter, Director of Communications, via email at Candice.Wynter@nathancummings.org. Further details are available in the “Apply for Funding” section of the NCF website.
