The Sacramento Children’s Fund (Measure L) grant program offers $17.9 million in funding over a 3.5-year period to support initiatives that benefit children and youth ages 0-24 who are most impacted by poverty, violence, and trauma. Public agencies and nonprofit organizations are eligible to apply for grants ranging from $25,000 to $500,000 per year, based on compliance, for up to 3.5 years. Proposals are due by December 6, 2024, at 5 p.m., with Council approval required for successful submissions.
Measure L, passed in November 2022, outlines five primary goals: preventing and reducing child and youth homelessness, supporting mental and emotional health, preventing youth violence, reducing substance abuse, and fostering the healthy development of children ages 0 to 5. In September 2024, the City Council adopted a Strategic Investment Plan, developed with input from a nine-member Planning and Oversight Commission and the City’s Children’s Fund team.
Funding allocations include 20% dedicated to a guaranteed basic income program for foster youth aged 18-24, with the remaining funds divided approximately evenly between community-based organizations and City or non-City public entities. Applications will be reviewed by the end of 2024.
Two informational sessions will assist prospective applicants: a virtual Bidder’s Conference on November 14, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and an in-person session on November 20, 2024, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Oak Park Community Center. For further details or assistance with the grants system, applicants may contact the City’s grants team via email at grants@cityofsacramento.gov or SCF@cityofsacramento.org.
