City of Medford Community Fund Grant

The Medford Community Fund Grant is currently accepting applications for its latest round of funding, which offers a total of $250,000 for eligible nonprofit organizations. The initiative is managed by the Community Fund Committee and is rooted in the Surrounding Community Agreement between the City of Medford and Wynn, MA LLC (Encore). This agreement was established to support the city’s social infrastructure through annual Community Fund Payments. These funds are then allocated by the committee to local nonprofits to maximize impact on the residents of Medford, Massachusetts. The primary objective of the grant is to support programs and capital projects that provide a meaningful benefit to the citizens and overall quality of life in Medford. Organizations may request funding amounts ranging from $1,000 to $25,000. The distribution will be determined through a competitive selection process conducted by the Community Fund Committee. Any funds not awarded during this round will be reserved for future use. In the previous cycle, grants were awarded to 36 nonprofit organizations, reflecting a broad commitment to community development and impact. Eligibility for this grant is limited to organizations with valid 501(c)(3) status that are either based in Medford or provide direct services to Medford residents. Organizations that received funding in the last cycle but have not yet fully expended those funds are not eligible to reapply during this round. This restriction ensures responsible fund utilization and equitable distribution across the community. Applicants must demonstrate that their proposed project or program will provide a tangible benefit to the Medford community. Awardees are required to submit quarterly progress reports and provide monthly invoices and/or receipts to the City of Medford for reimbursement purposes. This ensures transparency and accountability in how funds are used. The application window closes on October 20, 2025. Applications can be submitted online at medfordma.org or delivered in hard copy to the Mayor’s Office at Medford City Hall, Room 202, located at 85 George P. Hassett Drive, Medford, MA 02155. Electronic applications may also be submitted to ssmirti@medford-ma.gov. Applications must be either postmarked or received electronically by the deadline to be considered. The committee responsible for grant selections includes Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn, City Councilor Justin Tseng, Melanie McLaughlin, Arun Rajendran, Myrlande Paul, Erin Murphy Rafferty, and Kevin Wentworth. These members evaluate proposals based on their potential impact and alignment with the fund’s mission. This grant is awarded annually, and given the structure of the fund, it is expected to reopen in fall 2026 for the next round of applications.
