The Wendy Wagner Foundation Creative Award 2024

The Wendy Wagner Foundation 2024 Fall Creative Award supports female visual artists in the Houston, Texas area by offering three unrestricted grants to help fund creative work in contemporary art. Established in 2018, the award honors the legacy of Wendy Wagner by recognizing talented female artists producing original, impactful art. The top three awardees will receive prizes of $5,000, $2,500, and $1,000, respectively, providing substantial financial support for the winners' artistic endeavors. This award is open to women visual artists, aged 21 or older, who have lived and worked in Houston or Harris County for at least one year prior to the application deadline. Applicants must not be currently enrolled in or planning to enroll in an art-related degree program or residency within the next year. Both individual artists and collaborative groups are eligible to apply, although submissions are limited to visual arts only, including painting, photography, sculpture, ceramics, installation, and other visual media. Applications related to music, theatre, or dance are not eligible. The application period began on October 18, 2024, and submissions must be received by November 18, 2024. Finalists will be notified by November 25, 2024, and the winners will be announced on December 6, 2024. A panel of local artists, collectors, and directors will review submissions. To maintain impartiality, jurors must disclose any personal connections with applicants and may be asked to abstain from voting if a conflict of interest exists. Applicants are required to submit materials by email to grants@wendywagnerfoundation.org. Submissions must include 3-5 digital images of recent work, a CV or bio that includes the artist’s contact information and Harris County address, a link to their website (if available), and an artist statement (250 words max) describing their artistic vision, processes, and techniques. Each file should be clearly labeled with the artist’s name and content, for example, "sally.smith.image1.jpg." While confirmations of submission are not sent, all applicants will be notified of the final award results. Additionally, the Wendy Wagner Foundation reserves the right to photograph and use images of submitted work for promotional purposes.
