Social Service Grant

The Hays County Social Service Grant, administered by the Hays County Commissioners Court, supports nonprofit agencies that provide essential services to residents of Hays County, Texas. This grant aims to address specific needs among the county’s priority populations and to strengthen the network of social service providers who deliver critical assistance to the community. The Commissioners Court has positioned the program as a strategic investment in local well-being, enabling organizations with proven impact to expand their services and reach more residents in need. Historically, funded initiatives have included library services, senior services, workforce and career advancement programs, youth development initiatives, mental health and substance use disorder treatment, animal welfare efforts, and food assistance. These diverse areas of focus reflect the grant's flexible support for a wide range of service domains, provided that each proposal demonstrates a clear benefit to Hays County residents and aligns with the county's priorities. Applicants must be nonprofit organizations physically located in Hays County, and they must serve Hays County residents directly. Each application must include a well-defined description of the population to be served and a specific plan of action to address that group’s needs. The grant supports one-year projects, and all proposed activities must be completed within the fiscal year grant period, which spans from October 1, 2026, through September 30, 2027. To ensure accountability and alignment with Hays County’s Strategic Initiatives, grantees are required to submit quarterly programmatic reports throughout the grant period. The application process has been updated to encourage systematic and results-oriented approaches. A pre-application information session will be held on April 1, 2026, from 2 to 3 p.m. Both in-person and virtual options are available. The in-person meeting will take place at the Hays County Elections Center in San Marcos, Texas, and the virtual session can be accessed through the County Administrator’s website. These sessions will provide an overview of reporting requirements and introduce the FY2027 point of contact, along with an opportunity for applicants to ask questions.
