City of Westlake Village Community Service Grants

The Community Service Grant Program, administered by the City of Westlake Village, is designed to support non-profit organizations that deliver social services, educational initiatives, or cultural programs directly benefiting the city’s residents. Every year, the City Council earmarks a specific appropriation for the program, which reflects the city's commitment to fostering community engagement and service delivery. For the current cycle, a total of $125,000 is available, allocated across three primary categories: $40,000 for educational applicants, $25,000 for cultural programming, and $60,000 for social services. Eligible applicants must be community-based not-for-profit organizations that operate within or directly serve the City of Westlake Village. The organizations must provide services or programs directly and not through third-party subawards. Religious organizations are not categorically excluded, provided they are not pervasively sectarian and do not use funds for religious activities. Past grant recipients must detail previous awards and their usage. Awards begin at a minimum of $250, and all expenditures must be completed by the end of the calendar year in which the award is made. The application process involves completing an online application form that requests organizational information, membership figures, Westlake Village residency data, funding requests, budget plans, proof of 501(c)(3) status, and financial documentation covering the past two years. Applications are due by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2026. Late submissions are not accepted. Submitted applications are reviewed by a Community Service Grant Committee and two members of the City Council. Applicants may be invited to present at a public meeting to discuss their proposal. Evaluation criteria include responsiveness to community needs, number and demographics of residents served, service history, and financial necessity. Following the review, recommendations are submitted to the City Council, which holds full discretion in making award decisions.
