The E.J. and Marjory B. Ourso Family Foundation Fund is administered by the Baton Rouge Area Foundation and was established to offer philanthropic support throughout South Louisiana. These sectors represent the fund’s primary program areas, and successful applications are typically those that propose novel or creative solutions to regional challenges. Proposals are reviewed quarterly by the foundation’s Board of Directors.
Applicants must register as a Grants Administrator to access and submit the application. The application process requires a detailed summary, including organizational information, a concise project description, and justification for funding. Key data such as the project’s geographic region, timeline, target population, and leadership contacts must also be included.
A 1–3 page narrative is required, detailing the organization’s history, the challenge being addressed, and a comprehensive project plan that outlines strategies, measurable goals, and a continuation and evaluation strategy. The foundation prefers projects modeled after successful, evidence-based initiatives.
Additional required attachments include the narrative, qualifications of project staff, a project budget with narrative, board member list with governance details, and various financial documents. Depending on the applicant’s structure, documentation may include IRS tax-exempt letters or fiscal agent agreements. A board resolution authorizing the request and project implementation must also be submitted.
Grantees are obligated to provide both fiscal and narrative reports that outline how funds were used and the project’s impact. These reporting requirements are outlined further in the award letter.
