Grant Description

The Schoharie County Community Foundation Fund, administered in partnership with the Community Foundation of Otsego County, supports nonprofit organizations that are based in or provide meaningful services to residents of Schoharie County, New York. This targeted fund was established to help strengthen the impact and capacity of local nonprofits, with a focus on expanding or enhancing services that benefit underserved or disadvantaged populations. Eligible applicants must be tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Organizations that are not physically located in Schoharie County may still qualify if they can demonstrate that a substantial portion of their services directly benefits residents within the county. The fund does not support individuals or for-profit entities, and preference is given to programs that deliver essential services or serve vulnerable populations in the community. Grants may be used for three primary purposes: the expansion of existing services, the implementation of new service-oriented projects, or the purchase of software that enhances financial management capabilities. Specifically, software that facilitates online donations or improves fiscal transparency may be eligible. The fund does not support general operating costs, administrative overhead, legal fees, fundraising efforts, grant writing, or re-granting programs. Capital projects are also excluded from funding. Each grant awarded may be for up to $3,000. The application deadline for the Fall 2025 cycle is October 15, 2025. Awards will be disbursed upon receipt of written acceptance and verification of compliance with any stated conditions. Applications must be completed and submitted online through the designated platform. All application questions must be answered in full; incomplete applications will not be considered. Following completion of the funded project, recipients are required to submit a final report within 30 days. This report must detail how the grant funds were used, what was achieved, and whether the project goals were met. Additionally, all recipients must complete a post-award needs-analysis survey, which is designed to evaluate the impact of the funding and guide future grantmaking efforts. Access to the survey will be provided upon notification of funding. For questions related to this opportunity, applicants should contact the Community Foundation of Otsego County. Further application instructions, platform access, and technical support details are available through the foundation's official website.
