St. David’s Foundation has launched the "Pathways to Economic Stability for the Healthcare Workforce" open call funding opportunity to improve the economic stability of Central Texans, particularly those from historically marginalized backgrounds, by expanding access to high-demand and financially sustainable healthcare careers. This initiative aims to enhance health equity in the region by strengthening the local healthcare workforce pipeline and supporting wraparound services that help individuals persist through training and into employment.
This funding opportunity focuses on building collaborative and region-wide solutions that connect education, training, and employment with supportive services such as childcare, transportation, housing, and case management. Eligible applicants are encouraged to submit proposals that either build upon existing programs or introduce new models for increasing access and mobility within the healthcare sector. Proposals must demonstrate the potential for long-term impact and sustainability and show how they support high school youth and/or adults from underrepresented communities in Central Texas.
Applicants must be based and operating in one or more of the following Texas counties: Bastrop, Caldwell, Hays, Travis, or Williamson. Eligible entities include 501(c)(3) nonprofits, public or government entities (e.g., counties, municipalities, health departments, universities), or organizations using a fiscal sponsor. Organizations currently receiving funding from St. David’s Foundation are also eligible to apply.
The Foundation anticipates awarding up to $10 million in total funding through this initiative. Awards will be one-time, flexible 24-month grants. The size of each award will depend on the scope and sustainability of the proposed project, the applicant's annual budget, and the project's potential for lasting community impact. Grant funds may be used at the recipient’s discretion to fulfill the grant’s purpose.
The application process begins with a Letter of Intent (LOI), which must be submitted online by 5:00 PM CT on May 1, 2025. LOIs will be reviewed on a rolling basis starting from the open date of March 26, 2025. Applicants are encouraged to submit early. Strong LOIs will be invited to submit a full proposal by May 13, 2025, at 5:00 PM CT. An optional informational webinar is scheduled for April 2, 2025, at 10:00 AM CT.
For programmatic inquiries, applicants may contact the Foundation via questions@stdavidsfoundation.org, and for technical support with submissions, they may email grantsinfo@stdavidsfoundation.org. All applications must be submitted via the online Grants Portal; emailed or paper applications will not be accepted.
