FAITHS Community Partners Grant Program 2024
This grant provides funding to faith-based organizations in select Bay Area counties to support programs that promote racial and economic equity, civic engagement, and community services for low-income residents and communities of color.
Applications are currently being accepted for the FAITHS Community Partners Grant Program for 2024, which is administered by the San Francisco Foundation. This grant program aims to support initiatives that enhance interfaith and race relations, promote civic and cultural participation, develop leadership, and provide essential community services to low-income residents and communities of color. The program specifically addresses critical community needs such as affordable housing, food insecurity, civic engagement, mental health, and re-entry programs for individuals involved with the justice system. The primary purpose of the FAITHS Community Partners Grant Program is to empower faith-based organizations and congregations to build their capacity to engage in issues related to racial and economic equity. This includes fostering nonpartisan voter engagement, policy advocacy, and community organizing. The program also seeks to promote economic security, educational opportunities, and overall community well-being while addressing institutional and structural racism, discrimination, and implicit bias. Eligible applicants can request funding of up to $25,000 for a one-year grant. Priority will be given to 501c3 faith-based organizations and fiscally sponsored faith-based organizations that serve low-income communities and people of color in one or more of the five Bay Area counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, and San Mateo. Organizations headquartered outside the Bay Area may also apply if they serve one or more of these counties. The program particularly encourages applications from organizations that provide services to underserved communities, including low-income individuals, formerly incarcerated residents, low-wage workers, youth, unhoused individuals, seniors, and immigrants. All applications must include a civic educational, advocacy, and/or policy component. This could involve activities such as voter registration or other civic engagement initiatives. Collaborations or partnerships with other organizations are also encouraged, as they can enhance the effectiveness of the proposed programs. The evaluation of applications will be based on several criteria, including the clarity of the proposed program, its alignment with the grant's objectives, and the potential impact on the targeted communities. The application process is competitive, and applicants are advised to clearly articulate how their programs will address the needs of the communities they serve. The deadline for submitting applications is September 23, 2024. Interested organizations should ensure that they meet all eligibility requirements and prepare their applications in accordance with the guidelines provided by the San Francisco Foundation. For more information, applicants can visit the San Francisco Foundation's website or contact them directly at (415) 733-8500.
