Special Events Grant

The City of Edwardsville’s Special Events Grant Program aims to support nonprofit organizations by reimbursing event-related marketing and municipal fees for unique and creative special events in the community. The program targets a broad range of events, including festivals, sporting events, and cultural gatherings, which cater to a wide audience. Notable previous recipients have included the Edwardsville Rotary Criterium, Edwardsville Futures Pro Circuit tennis tournament, Edwardsville Unity Fest, and other local community events that focus on music, food, and the arts. The Special Events Grant is a reimbursement grant, which means it does not cover the total cost of an event but assists by reimbursing specific event-related expenses. Organizations can use the funds for various marketing and promotional efforts, such as media advertising in broadcast, web, and print outlets. Additionally, the grant can cover municipal fees for services like public safety, police, fire, public works, and park services, which are necessary to host large-scale public events. The maximum amount that can be requested per event is $8,000. Eligibility for the Special Events Grant is restricted to nonprofit organizations that are organizing a free event aimed at attracting visitors to Edwardsville. The event must be marketed, and its target audience should include both local residents and out-of-town visitors. The grant application process involves submitting an online application or a printed form along with necessary supporting documents. These applications will only be accepted during the specified eligibility period. The deadline for submitting applications for the 2025-26 Special Events Grant is March 1, 2025. After the submission deadline, recipients will be notified by email. The city emphasizes that the funds are distributed on a reimbursement basis, and the expenses eligible for reimbursement include those related to advertising, promotional campaigns, and municipal charges for public services. To apply for the Special Events Grant, interested organizations must either complete an online form (available during the eligibility period) or submit a printed version of the application via email.
