Grant Description

The Montrose Community Foundation (MCF) Impact Grants provide financial support of up to $5,000 to nonprofits and qualifying projects in Montrose County, Colorado, aiming to strengthen community services, leadership, and quality of life. These grants prioritize sustainable, collaborative programs and operational expenses that address local needs and foster inclusivity. Applicants must be organizations with 501(c)(3) status or similar charitable designation; fiscal sponsorship is also acceptable for groups without formal tax-exempt status. Programs must directly benefit Montrose County residents, and organizations with budgets exceeding $2 million are eligible only for program-specific funding, not operational support. The application process for the 2024 grant cycle opened on October 1, 2024, with a submission deadline of December 2, 2024, at 11:59 PM MST. Organizations that received funding in 2023 must submit their grant report by November 29, 2024, to be eligible for the current cycle. MCF will notify selected grantees by the end of January 2025, with funds distributed in February 2025. Funding decisions are based on several criteria, including alignment of the organization’s mission with its programs, demonstrated understanding of community needs, focus on underserved or at-risk populations, and evidence of collaboration with other organizations. Financial documentation and a clear explanation of program impact are essential for consideration. Applications must be submitted through the online platform, Smarter Select, except for those using a Spanish-language application. MCF does not fund requests for political activities, personal expenses, travel costs, religious programs solely intended to advance specific religious beliefs, or college scholarships. For questions, applicants can contact MCF via phone at 970-249-3900 or email scholarships@montrosecf.org.
