Farmington Greater Together Community Fund 2025
This grant provides funding to nonprofit organizations in Farmington, Connecticut, to support community-driven projects that promote civic engagement and inclusivity for local residents.
The Farmington Greater Together Community Fund, established by the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, aims to empower local residents in Farmington, Connecticut, to address the needs of their community. The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving serves as the community foundation for the Capitol Region of Connecticut and has created 29 separate community funds to support individual towns. The Farmington fund was allocated $100,000, with the intent of encouraging civic engagement, fostering inclusive decision-making, and connecting the foundation to each town it serves. The current grant cycle for the Farmington Greater Together Community Fund invites applications for projects that directly benefit the residents of Farmington. Proposals must ensure inclusive access and may not discriminate based on race, religion, or any other protected class. Projects should focus on creating broad community benefit and must culminate in a final report submitted to the committee upon completion. Each organization is allowed to submit only one proposal per cycle. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations and those utilizing a fiscal sponsor or agent, such as the town itself. Fiscal sponsors are responsible for receiving, distributing, and accounting for the grant funds. Private foundations and 509(a)(3) charities are ineligible, as are for-profit businesses. Religious organizations may apply, provided the proposed project benefits the general community and is not religious in nature. Additionally, any organization that has received funding for the same project for three consecutive years will be ineligible to apply for that specific project in future grant cycles. Funding requests must fall within the range of $500 to $7,500. Applications opened on June 17, 2025, and are due by September 19, 2025. The committee will notify applicants of funding decisions and distribute funds by November or December 2025. An FAQ session is scheduled for August 21, 2025, from 5:00 to 6:30 PM at the Farmington Community Center to assist applicants. Interested applicants should download the application form and submit the completed version via email to farmingtonac@hfpgcommunityfunds.org. A sample budget spreadsheet is also available to help applicants prepare their project budgets. For general inquiries or application guidance, applicants may contact the committee at the same email address. Media inquiries should be directed to Chris Senecal at csenecal@hfpg.org, while Melissa Marsh serves as the program manager and can be reached at mmarsh@hfpg.org. Previous grant cycles demonstrate the fund's diverse community impact. In 2024, $25,520 was awarded to seven organizations supporting initiatives such as domestic violence support, mobility aid access, financial assistance, food distribution, healthy meals, community engagement events, and STEM education. This historical context underscores the fundโs commitment to supporting varied and meaningful projects that improve life in Farmington.
