Funding for Brownfield Investigation
This funding opportunity provides financial support for assessing and revitalizing contaminated properties in Minnesota to promote community development and essential services while preventing gentrification.
The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) offers grants funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for assessing contaminated brownfield sites to facilitate redevelopment and reuse in Minnesota. These grants, administered through the MPCA Brownfield Program, cover costs for environmental site assessments, sampling and analysis plans, preparation of cleanup/response action plans, and community engagement for reuse planning. This program aims to support projects that promote community enhancement without causing gentrification and provide essential community services. Ineligible sites and activities include federal or state Superfund sites, radon or mold abatement, renovations or expansions of single-family homes that do not lead to demolition, closed permitted landfills, and hazardous materials cleanup.
