Grant Description

The Baker County Cultural Coalition (BCCC) offers small-scale funding opportunities to individuals, groups, and organizations operating within Baker County, Oregon. Administered under the guidance of the Oregon Cultural Trust, the BCCC provides mini-grants intended to support projects that enhance the county’s cultural, artistic, and heritage-based offerings. The Coalition’s emphasis lies in fostering community-wide access to cultural enrichment, thereby supporting events, programs, and infrastructure that contribute to the local identity and heritage preservation. Projects funded by the BCCC typically involve a range of activities across arts, humanities, and heritage sectors. Examples include concerts, theater productions, visual art exhibits, community performances, public murals, historical preservation projects, interpretive signage, literary events, festivals, and culturally themed celebrations. The Coalition encourages proposals that align with its Cultural Plan priorities, which include improving and preserving cultural resources, enhancing understanding of local heritage, and introducing new forms of creative expression. All projects must serve the broader community and be accessible to the public. The BCCC operates on a biannual funding cycle with application deadlines on May 15 and October 15 each year. Applications must be submitted in advance of the proposed event or activity. If a deadline falls on a weekend, the application will be due the following Monday. Submission of a complete application includes a brief project description, explanation of alignment with the Baker County Cultural Plan, estimates on public impact, and a completed budget form. Only one application per applicant or project is permitted annually, and no additional or continuation funding will be granted within the same calendar year. Applications may be submitted by email to bccc@bakercountyor.gov or hand-delivered to a board member of the Coalition. Preference is given to emailed applications. Only projects that directly benefit Baker County will be considered. Funding typically caps at $500 per project; however, proposals that are bold, innovative, and offer a new cultural opportunity may be considered for larger awards. Grant funds must be expended within one year of receipt. A grant report is required by November 1 of the same year, unless the funded project takes place afterward. In such cases, applicants are advised to coordinate with the Coalition for an alternate reporting deadline. The use of Oregon Cultural Trust branding is required in all publicity related to the funded activity. The report must include project outcomes, total individuals served, and any matching contributions from the community. If potential applicants have questions or wish to verify eligibility, they are encouraged to reach out to the Coalition Board Chair or another board member. Additionally, BCCC may offer informal reviews of draft applications prior to submission upon request. This helps ensure alignment with funding priorities and strengthens the application’s likelihood of success.
