Grant Description

The Radiological Society of North America Research & Education Foundation (RSNA R&E Foundation) administers the Education Project Award to recognize the significant impact of educators in the field of radiologic sciences. Established as part of the Foundationโ€™s ongoing mission to improve patient care through education and research, this program provides supplemental funding for new or continuing education projects that strengthen teaching methodologies, educational resources, and delivery assessment mechanisms. The Foundation, active since 1984, has distributed over $88 million across more than two thousand grants supporting transformative contributions to radiology education and research worldwide. The Education Project Award supports one-year initiatives designed to enhance the educational environment in radiology at the local or regional level. Eligible projects may involve developing innovative curricula, producing new educational materials, testing novel approaches to teaching, or advancing community and global radiology outreach. Beginning with the 2026โ€“27 cycle, RSNA has prioritized six focus areas to guide applicants toward emerging, high-impact disciplines. These include precision medicine with theranostics, imaging in vulnerable populations, operational efficiencies in radiology, pediatric imaging personalization, cybersecurity in radiology departments, and strategies for increasing access and efficiency in practice. However, investigator-initiated applications outside these focus areas remain fully welcome. Applicants must hold active RSNA membership at both submission and award periods. Faculty members, residents, and fellows may apply individually or collaboratively, provided no concurrent RSNA grants are held. The award provides between $10,000 and $20,000 in direct costs, excluding institutional overhead or travel to RSNAโ€™s Annual Meeting. Funds may support salary, fringe benefits, and other project-related direct expenses. Awards are paid in a single installment to the host institution, with ten percent withheld pending receipt of a satisfactory final report within six months of project completion. The performance period spans July 1 through June 30 of the following year. Applications must be submitted electronically through the RSNA online portal by **January 16, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. CST**. The submission must include an abstract of up to 300 words, a short summary, detailed education plan, budget, letters of support, and a signed departmental endorsement. The RSNA does not accept late or incomplete applications. Transparency in artificial intelligence (AI) use is mandatory; if AI-assisted tools are employed in proposal preparation, applicants must provide disclosure including tool names, access dates, and use descriptions. Final selections are made by the Education Study Section, which evaluates proposals for educational value, innovation, and potential to advance radiologic learning. Funded investigators are required to submit comprehensive final and financial reports within 90 days of project completion and participate in annual follow-up surveys to document long-term career impact. Projects resulting in publications must first be submitted to RSNA journals or the RSNA Annual Meeting for consideration before dissemination elsewhere. The RSNA R&E Foundation publicizes recipient information, including project title, institution, and abstract. Questions and requests for assistance can be directed to the RSNA Foundation via customerservice@rsna.org or by calling 1-630-571-2670. The 2026โ€“27 application cycle is currently open, with the next round expected to follow on a recurring annual schedule.
