Grant Description

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has announced a non-competitive funding opportunity through the Reston Grants Branch, with $2 million available to support cooperative agreements for FY 2025. This funding, distributed through a cooperative agreement, targets research aligned with USGS priorities in the classification of public lands and the assessment of geological, water, mineral, and biological resources. This opportunity is non-competitive, intended for collaborations with federal, state, tribal, and academic entities that complement existing USGS research objectives. Applications must be submitted by September 30, 2025, and awards will range from $1 to $2 million, fully covered by USGS with no cost-sharing requirements. Eligible applicants include federal, state, and academic partners, as well as tribal entities, and the agreement supports ongoing and new projects that involve significant data collection and resource analysis in the national interest. This cooperative agreement allows for flexibility in structuring partnerships, which can be arranged as grants, contracts, or direct cooperative agreements based on the projectโ€™s scope and specific requirements. Interested applicants should ensure projects are closely aligned with USGS mission areas. For additional details or help accessing the application, contact Nikolas Lushenko at nlushenko@usgs.gov.
