Community Events and Program Grant

The City of Burbank’s 2026 Community Events and Program Grant is a local initiative aimed at enhancing civic engagement and quality of life through monetary support to eligible nonprofit organizations. As a pilot program in its second year, it is designed to fund community events and programs that directly benefit the residents, businesses, and visitors of Burbank, California. Administered through the City Manager’s Office, the program operates with a dedicated fund of $55,000 drawn from the City’s General Fund for fiscal year 2025–2026. This financial commitment underscores the city’s support for enriching local life through recreational, cultural, and social programming. Eligible applicants must be nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations with a principal place of business within the City of Burbank. However, organizations based outside Burbank may also apply if they can justify their impact on the Burbank community. All events and programs proposed for funding must occur within the City of Burbank and be scheduled between July 1, 2026 and June 30, 2027. While these activities need not be free of charge, they must be accessible to the general public. The grant program does not fund events of a political or religious nature, invitation-only events, or programs associated with individuals or organizations with unresolved obligations to the City. Events that could damage City property or cause harm to residents are also excluded. The grant awards generally range from $1,000 to $4,000 per organization, though applicants may request up to $10,000. Funding is limited, and not all eligible applicants may receive awards. The evaluation of submissions is conducted in multiple stages. Initial review by the City Manager’s Office ensures application completeness and compliance with eligibility criteria. A staff committee composed of representatives from several city departments further evaluates submissions based on organizational capacity, program feasibility, community impact, and financial planning. Their recommendations are then presented to the Burbank City Council, which holds the final decision-making authority regarding funding allocation. The application process opens on March 2, 2026, and closes on April 2, 2026 at 12:00 PM Pacific Time. Applicants are encouraged to attend an in-person workshop on March 11 or a virtual office hour Q&A session on March 25 to receive guidance on the application process. Applications must include a detailed event or program description, proof of nonprofit status, a proposed budget plan, and recent financial statements. All required documents must be submitted via email to the designated city address to complete the application. Applicants selected for funding will enter into an agreement with the City of Burbank and must expend the awarded funds within 12 months. Following the conclusion of the event or program, grantees are required to submit documentation of all expenditures within 60 days. Noncompliance with grant requirements or misuse of funds will result in financial penalties and disqualification from future funding cycles.
