The Stamford Arts & Culture (SAC) Grant is a project-based funding program administered by the Stamford Arts & Culture Commission and funded entirely by the City of Stamford. Established in 2018 and formerly known as the Stamford Community Arts Partnership Program (CAPP), the grant supports arts and cultural programming designed to enhance community engagement and public access to the arts in Stamford, Connecticut.
The SAC Grant targets Stamford-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, as well as groups and individuals who are residents of Stamford partnering with eligible nonprofits. The program places a strong emphasis on inclusion and public benefit, disallowing any exclusive projects or hiring practices. All funded programming must be delivered within Stamford. While eligible nonprofits may act as fiduciary sponsors for other groups or individuals, they are prohibited from charging a service fee for doing so. Organizations that receive $100,000 or more from Stamfordโs general operating budget may only apply on behalf of others, not for their own programming.
Grant funds may be applied to a range of project-related expenses, including staff salaries, payments to contractors, production and shipping costs, space rentals, marketing, and documentation services. However, general operating expenses, alcohol, private receptions, capital improvements, scholarships, political activities, and various other restricted items are explicitly excluded from funding eligibility.
The maximum grant award is $15,000, with funding disbursed as a single payment in January 2025. Applicants must demonstrate additional sources of funding and submit detailed budget forms along with other required documentation, including work samples, tax filings, and a list of board members. A final report is required within 30 days of project completion.
Applications for the current cycle must be submitted by 11:59 pm on Saturday, November 15, 2025, via email to the program contact, Aaron Miller. The project period must run between January 1 and December 31, 2026. This grant is issued annually and typically opens each fall.
Ensure all documentation is complete and timely; use budget to show multiple funding sources; comply with use restrictions.
