Twice is Nice Fund 2025
This grant provides financial support to nonprofit organizations and community groups in Virginia's Planning District 10 to develop innovative programs that help seniors live independently and with dignity.
The Twice is Nice Fund is a grant program administered through the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation, designed to support innovative local nonprofit efforts that benefit seniors in need across Virginia's Planning District 10. This district includes the City of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, and Nelson. The grant is made possible through the charitable activities of Twice is Nice, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that generates funding through the resale of donated clothing, furniture, and household goods in its Charlottesville boutique. Their mission is centered on sustainability and providing direct support to underserved senior populations. The grant program is focused on funding projects that empower seniors to live independently, safely, and with dignity. Proposals should address the complex factors that influence aging, including health disparities, economic security, access to affordable healthcare, housing, and social inclusion. Funding is open to both new and established programs that support seniors and offer meaningful, measurable outcomes. TIN places emphasis on innovation, equity, and impactful results, encouraging applicants to think beyond traditional models of service. Funding is available for both programmatic and operational purposes, and requests up to $15,000 are encouraged. While there is no minimum request amount, partial funding is a possibility depending on proposal quality and alignment with TIN’s priorities. Partnerships are welcomed but not required, and applicants may enhance their proposals with letters of support. The grant is not intended for large-scale building or capital campaigns, though small-scale renovations that enable aging in place or improve home safety are acceptable. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, government agencies, faith-based groups, and fiscally sponsored projects. Fiscal sponsors may submit multiple applications—one for their own organization and additional ones for each sponsored entity. Each applicant organization may submit only one proposal per grant cycle unless acting as a fiscal sponsor. Applications must include a detailed program narrative, current fiscal year budget (revenue and expenses), and, if relevant, a program-specific budget. Evaluation criteria include organizational capacity, financial stability, community benefit, leadership qualifications, feasibility, and, where relevant, strategic partnerships. Site visits may be conducted at the discretion of the review committee. Applications for the 2025 cycle will open on July 1, 2025, and close at 11:59 PM on August 29, 2025. Award notifications are expected by mid-December 2025. Grantees will be required to submit a written summary report and host a site visit upon project completion. Additionally, they will be expected to publicly endorse the Twice is Nice mission and share stories or testimonials about the funded work to help increase community awareness and support for the fund's resale operation, which in turn sustains future grantmaking efforts. Applicants with questions or requiring assistance should contact the foundation at grants@cacfonline.org. More detailed information, including eligibility criteria and grant guidelines, can be found in the official Twice is Nice Grant Guidelines document available through the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation.
