Community Engagement Grants

The Community Engagement Grants, offered by the Watertown Community Foundation, support initiatives that aim to deepen civic involvement and promote inclusive participation among Watertown residents. The grant focuses on three main areas: increasing access to community programs and services, fostering intercultural dialogue and understanding, and strengthening community ties. Projects may include efforts to reduce financial burdens through scholarships or free programming, increase linguistic and cultural inclusivity through multilingual outreach and cultural competence training, or enhance accessibility for individuals with disabilities through adaptive programming or assistive technologies. Programs that promote cultural celebration, shared experiences, or enhance understanding between different racial, ethnic, or religious groups are also encouraged. Funding awards can be as high as $5,000, depending on project scope and scale. Funding can be used for direct programmatic costs such as presenter and room rental fees, participant subsidies, and necessary materials and equipment. Outreach and awareness activities related to the project’s focus area are also eligible. However, the grant does not cover general operating costs, political activity, lobbying, capital campaigns, or construction costs. The application period for the next cycle will run from September 9 to September 30, 2026. All funded projects must be completed by August 13, 2027. There is no pre-application requirement, and applications are submitted directly during the open window. Programs are evaluated based on alignment with the grant’s focus areas, their potential to engage Watertown residents, and their effectiveness in removing participation barriers.
