Colorado Springs Health Foundation Grant Program
This grant provides funding to nonprofit organizations and government entities to improve health outcomes for underresourced populations in El Paso and Teller Counties, focusing on areas such as food access, physical activity, and affordable housing.
The Colorado Springs Health Foundation (CSHF) serves the communities of El Paso and Teller Counties in Colorado with a dedicated mission to improve health outcomes through strategic grantmaking. The foundation operates under a population health model, acknowledging that health is influenced not only by clinical care but also by behavioral, social, economic, and environmental determinants. CSHF’s grantmaking reflects this comprehensive approach to wellness, aiming to address diverse issues that influence both length and quality of life. CSHF issues grants across two main annual funding cycles—Winter/Spring and Summer/Fall. Each cycle is aligned with specific focus areas that reflect the foundation's mission and community-informed priorities. The Winter/Spring cycle supports projects related to healthcare access (including mental, physical, oral health, and substance use care), suicide prevention, and trauma prevention or healing. The Summer/Fall cycle supports initiatives focused on food, physical activity, and transitional or affordable housing. While most grants are one year in length, CSHF will consider multiyear proposals for new initiatives (excluding general operations and capital requests), provided they show potential to address community needs in novel ways and applicants discuss their proposals with staff prior to applying. Eligible applicants include tax-exempt organizations under section 501(c)(3), those operating under fiscal sponsorship of a 501(c)(3), and tax-supported entities such as schools or local/state governments. All applicants must serve communities in El Paso and/or Teller Counties. CSHF does not fund individuals, for-profit entities, political campaigns, fundraising events, or re-granting organizations (except for collaborative funder efforts). Moreover, organizations can only receive one general operating, project, or capital grant annually, and must close out existing grants—including submitting and receiving approval for the final report—before applying for new funding. The application process begins with a required pre-application phone call during a designated window. No formal letter of intent is required. Applications must be submitted through CSHF’s third-party grant portal by noon on the respective cycle’s deadline. For the Winter/Spring 2026 cycle, the application opened on November 3, 2025, with a submission deadline of January 27, 2026, and funding decisions expected by late March. The Summer/Fall 2026 cycle is tentatively scheduled to open on April 27, 2026, with submissions due by July 21, 2026, and decisions expected in late September. CSHF offers additional opportunities for capacity-building and collaborative funding throughout the year, without specific deadlines. Emergency funding may also be considered in exceptional circumstances, with applicants advised to contact staff directly. While the foundation adheres to its focus areas, it occasionally funds exceptional proposals outside these domains if they strongly align with the foundation’s values and mission. For more information, applicants can contact the foundation at [email protected] or by calling (719) 985-8989. All applications and associated documents may be subject to the Colorado Open Records Act and could be publicly disclosed.
