Grant Description

The Colorado Springs Health Foundation (CSHF) is a private grantmaking organization focused on improving the health of residents in El Paso and Teller Counties, Colorado. With a strong commitment to population health frameworks, the Foundation acknowledges that health is influenced by an array of factors including clinical care, social determinants, health behaviors, and the physical environment. The Foundation’s purpose is to distribute grants aligned with its mission to support high-need and underresourced populations through strategic investment in health-related initiatives. CSHF's grantmaking structure is built around two primary funding cycles per year. The Winter/Spring cycle supports initiatives in healthcare access, suicide prevention, and trauma prevention or healing. The Summer/Fall cycle focuses on food, physical activity, and transitional or affordable housing. Each cycle permits requests for general operating, program/project, or capital funding. Organizations can only receive one such grant per calendar year, contingent on the closeout of any previous awards. Emergency grants may be considered outside of the standard cycle under exceptional circumstances. Eligible applicants must be tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3), operating under a fiscal sponsor that is tax-exempt, or a tax-supported institution like a school or government agency. Additionally, the organization must provide services within El Paso or Teller County, Colorado. Requests should not be made on behalf of individuals, for-profit entities, or those related to fundraising events, political activities, or general regranting without a collaborative funding component. CSHF does not typically fund sole, majority, or continuous funding efforts. CSHF supports a wide range of request types including capital investments, program support, capacity-building, and general operations. Although most grants are for one-year durations, multiyear grants may be considered for new initiatives that aim to address a specific community need in innovative ways. Multiyear general operating, ongoing program, or capital support is explicitly excluded. Applicants interested in multiyear support must consult with CSHF staff during a pre-application phone call. For the Summer/Fall 2025 cycle, funding opens on Monday, April 28, 2025. Pre-application phone calls must be completed between April 28 and July 10, 2025. Final grant submissions are due by noon Mountain Time on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. Decisions will be announced in late September 2025. The Winter/Spring 2026 cycle is expected to open November 3, 2025, with pre-application calls continuing through January 15, 2026, and a submission deadline of January 27, 2026. Results are anticipated by late March 2026. Applicants are encouraged to understand the population health framework that informs CSHF’s strategic priorities and to explore relevant county-level data through the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s County Health Rankings. For any questions or to request accommodations, applicants may contact the Foundation directly at info@cshf.net or by calling (719) 985-8989. The grant application system is hosted on a third-party platform, accessible through the Foundation’s official website.
