Montgomery County Fund Grant

The Montgomery County Fund (MCF) is a philanthropic organization founded in 1992 to support charitable initiatives throughout Montgomery County, North Carolina. It operates as an affiliate of the North Carolina Community Foundation and is governed by a volunteer advisory board composed of local leaders. The board oversees permanent endowments, facilitates local grantmaking, and provides leadership in addressing the county’s pressing community needs. For the 2025 grant cycle, MCF will accept applications from March 14 through noon Eastern Time on April 15. Applications submitted after this deadline will not be considered, including those delayed due to technical difficulties. Funds are available for qualified charitable organizations that serve the local community of Montgomery County. Grants are awarded on a competitive basis and typically range from $1,000 to $5,000. In the 2024 cycle, MCF awarded a total of $46,200 in grants. All grants for 2025 will be awarded from the Montgomery County Fund’s community grantmaking fund. This fund supports a wide variety of local causes and is intended to enhance community welfare, capacity, and access to services. There is no indication of restrictions to specific issue areas, allowing organizations addressing diverse needs within the county to apply. Applications must be submitted through the North Carolina Community Foundation’s online system. New applicants should consult Training Module I to create an organizational profile, while returning applicants can log in using their existing credentials. Once logged in, Training Module II provides guidance on submitting a new grant application. All applicants must adhere strictly to the published guidelines, as noncompliance will result in disqualification from funding. Grant decisions are typically made about two months following the close of the application cycle. The local advisory board uses an annual Community Needs Assessment as one of its tools to inform grantmaking decisions. This assessment is available on the foundation's website and should be reviewed by applicants to align their proposals with current community priorities.
