The community foundation offers grant opportunities for various entities, including 501(c)(3) nonprofits, educational institutions, government organizations, and religious institutions. For entities that do not fit these categories, partnering with a fiscal agent may be necessary, though the foundation may still consider some projects on a case-by-case basis. Grants typically focus on geographic areas served by the foundation and support projects or programs that benefit the community or advance an organizationโs mission.
Eligible funding includes seed money for new projects, capacity-building efforts such as staff training or technology upgrades, capital improvements like facility renovations, and endowment funds. However, requests for endowment funds must support a specific initiative, and funding is less likely for general endowment support.
The foundation does not consider applications that are incomplete, incorrect, or late, nor does it fund political projects, discriminatory practices, debt retirement, or operating deficits. Grant applications are accepted during two cycles: the Fall Cycle (September 15 - November 15) and the Spring Cycle (February 15 - April 15).
For additional assistance, applicants can contact the Director, Aurielle Hughes, or access resources like the grant support center, instructional videos, and brochures.
