Grant Description

The Sheila Williamson Memorial Health Grant is a funding opportunity presented by the Community Foundation of New Jersey (CFNJ), a nonprofit philanthropic organization that partners with donors and nonprofits to address community-specific issues throughout the state. This grant reflects CFNJ’s commitment to supporting grassroots organizations that champion health equity in underserved communities. Designed to address persistent health disparities, the grant aims to empower small, community-based organizations that present innovative approaches to healthcare access and equitable wellness outcomes. Through this initiative, CFNJ prioritizes programs that uplift historically underserved populations by ensuring equal access to quality healthcare, wellness education, and holistic health services. Eligible applicants include small nonprofit organizations that demonstrate a clear focus on health equity within marginalized or disadvantaged populations. Organizations should highlight their grassroots roots and innovative strategies in their applications. Proposals should be targeted at improving access to healthcare and eliminating systemic health disparities at the local level. Applicants must access and submit their applications through the CFNJ grant portal using the access code SWMH_25. The grant cycle begins on April 1, 2025, and applications will be accepted until May 16, 2025. CFNJ expects to notify applicants regarding funding decisions by June 30, 2025. Between one and two grants will be awarded, with individual award amounts ranging from $2,500 to $5,000. For any inquiries regarding the grant or application process, applicants are encouraged to reach out to CFNJ’s grants team. The point of contact includes Aaron Turner, Chief Philanthropic Officer; Madeline Rivera and Nalune Francois, Program Officers; and Lydia Gracey, Philanthropic Services Program Coordinator. These individuals are available to provide support throughout the grant application process.
