Breva Thrive Grant
This grant provides $5,000 to small businesses in the U.S. that positively impact underrepresented communities through job creation, innovation, or improved access to essential services.
The Breva Thrive Grant, administered by Cadence Financial Group under the Breva brand, is a private sector initiative designed to support small businesses in the United States that are delivering measurable community impact. This quarterly program provides catalytic funding to early-stage or growing for-profit entities that demonstrate tangible benefits to underserved or underrepresented communities. Breva operates as a financial technology and services provider focused on advancing inclusive economic development. Their Thrive Grant represents a key component of this mission, offering $5,000 awards to help entrepreneurs scale their efforts in job creation, product innovation, and community accessibility. Eligible applicants must be legally formed, for-profit entities in good standing within any U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia. While businesses of any age may apply, Breva strongly prefers those with at least twelve months of continuous operation. Additionally, applicants must demonstrate commercial revenue prior to application submission. This revenue history, while not a sole determining factor, is considered under the "Business Viability" evaluation criterion. The applicant’s impact must be trackable and aligned with community benefit goals—whether through job creation, expanding access to goods or services, or serving historically underserved populations. However, the program remains race- and gender-neutral in its selection process. Each grant cycle opens quarterly—on January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1—and closes at the end of that respective month. Applications are reviewed by the following month’s end, and awardees are notified by the 15th of the subsequent month. Disbursement of funds occurs within 30 days of grant agreement execution and verification. Grant funds must directly support the business's mission or community-impact goals. Examples include investment in equipment, staff hiring, product development, or targeted outreach. Prohibited uses include personal expenses, political contributions, and unrelated debt repayment. The application process requires completion of the online Breva Thrive Grant Application Form and submission of necessary documentation by the posted deadline. Upon submission, applicants must certify the accuracy of their information and consent to verification. The evaluation process is holistic and considers community impact, business viability, alignment with Breva’s mission of inclusive growth, and clarity of fund utilization. While demographic data may be collected, it is only used in aggregated form for internal evaluation and not factored into scoring decisions. Grant recipients must fulfill certain post-award obligations, including brief progress updates on fund use and impact (e.g., revenue growth, jobs created), as well as maintaining records for at least three years. Breva reserves the right to request this documentation and audit fund use. Recipients also grant Breva the right to publicly use their business name and non-confidential descriptions for promotional purposes. However, proprietary or detailed financial data will remain confidential unless additional consent is granted. For assistance or inquiries regarding the Thrive Grant, applicants may contact Breva at [email protected] or by phone at 1-919-283-3470 during business hours (Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. ET). The program runs on a predictable quarterly cycle, and recurring applicants are encouraged to align their submissions accordingly. With a strong emphasis on small-scale, high-impact businesses, the Thrive Grant stands out as a recurring funding opportunity committed to fostering economic growth and community transformation across the nation.
