2025 Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation Grant

The 2025 Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) Grant Program, offered by the U.S. Embassy in Georgia, supports preservation projects for cultural heritage with funding ranging from $25,000 to $500,000. Project types funded by AFCP include the conservation of historic cultural sites, preservation of cultural objects and collections, and the safeguarding of traditional forms of cultural expression such as indigenous music and crafts. The AFCP's aim is to assist in preserving significant cultural heritage to foster cultural connections and support local community goals through sustainable, culturally respectful means. Eligible project activities include the conservation of historic buildings and monuments, archaeological site preservation, and conservation treatment for collections in museums or other cultural institutions. Additionally, projects focusing on traditional cultural expression, such as documenting and preserving traditional music or crafts, are encouraged. For 2025, AFCP will prioritize projects that support cultural heritage disaster risk reduction, contribute to post-disaster recovery, align with community goals, or complement other U.S. Embassy programs. To apply, prospective applicants must submit a project abstract by December 13, 2024, by 6:00 PM local time to the specified embassy email. The project abstract should provide essential project details, including title, duration, location, budget estimate, organization contact information, proof of official permission to execute the project, and the SAM registration status of the implementer. Additional materials, such as high-quality digital images or audiovisual files, must be included in the submission. Selected applicants will be invited to submit a full project proposal by early April 2025. The full project proposal must elaborate on project dates, a chronological description of activities and milestones, a detailed scope of work with clear preservation goals, and community objectives. Also required is a statement of the site’s historical or cultural significance, a public awareness plan, a maintenance plan for post-project care, CVs of key project personnel, and a comprehensive budget. Detailed budget documentation must cover personnel, travel, and supplies and justify all line items, particularly those related to international travel. Eligible applicants include reputable, non-commercial entities such as NGOs, museums, and cultural ministries with demonstrated project management experience. Notably, AFCP funds cannot be used for the preservation of privately owned property, construction of new buildings, routine archaeological research, or activities that precede the award announcement. The program also excludes funding for individuals, commercial entities, and previous recipients who have not met prior grant requirements. Applicants must obtain a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) and register with the System for Award Management (SAM) before grant funds can be disbursed.
