Grant Description

The Little Drummer Girl Fund 2025 grant program aims to foster generosity and community connection by supporting local nonprofits through funding and family-driven engagement. The initiative is centered on engaging multiple generations of a single fundholder family, ranging in age from young children to seniors, in the evaluation and awarding process. This unique approach encourages applicants to present their impact in a storytelling format that resonates with both children and adults, emphasizing clarity, emotion, and community relevance. Eligible nonprofit organizations are invited to submit a video, no longer than 90 seconds, that illustrates their impact in the Greater Huntsville area, specifically within Jackson, Limestone, Madison, Marshall, or Morgan County. The fund’s objectives for 2025 emphasize three focus areas: training animals to assist or comfort humans, facilitating community-based arts initiatives including concerts and performances, and promoting outdoor experiences in natural environments. These thematic areas reflect the fund’s commitment to enhancing quality of life through innovative, inclusive community engagement. Funding requests must range between $1,000 and $5,000. Applicants are evaluated based on the emotional and practical impact of their story, the transformative potential of receiving the grant, and the availability of family-friendly volunteer opportunities. To further engage reviewers, organizations may also submit an optional 60-second video testimonial from a staff member sharing their personal motivation for joining the organization. This optional submission is treated as a separate application for an additional $1,000. All applicants must be 501(c)(3) public charities, schools, religious institutions, or government agencies located in the eligible counties, with funding designated for public benefit purposes. Submissions must include a simplified organizational budget, preferably represented as a pie chart, detailing income sources and expenses. Successful grantees will enter into a Grant Agreement specifying funding use and outcome reporting obligations. Applications must be submitted via the designated online portal by 5:00 p.m. Central Time on Tuesday, June 10, 2025. For further inquiries, applicants can contact Ann Kvach via phone at 256.489.3525 or email at ann@givehsv.org. Award decisions will be made by the Little Drummer Girl Grants Committee.
