Grant Description

The Hudson Community Foundation (HCF), established as a philanthropic organization serving the Hudson, Ohio area, has awarded over $500,000 in grants since 2000. Its mission is rooted in supporting and collaborating with nonprofit entities to meet the evolving needs of the Hudson community. Through its responsive and impact-driven approach, HCF strategically invests in programs and initiatives that directly contribute to enhancing the quality of life for Hudson residents. The foundation prides itself on balancing support for current community challenges with proactive attention to anticipated future needs. HCF’s grantmaking priorities encompass five core areas: Art and Culture, Historical and Environmental Preservation, Social Services, Youth Education and Recreation, and Prevention and Addiction. While broad in scope, these categories reflect the Foundation’s strategic focus on areas it deems essential to sustaining and enriching community well-being. The grants are open to nonprofit organizations that are either located in Hudson or provide services to the community. Applicants must be classified under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS Code. In select cases, government agencies may also be eligible to apply. The Foundation specifically excludes private foundations, religious events or organizations, political campaigns, individual support, and capital campaigns, among other disallowed uses. The grant application process is competitive and is structured around two cycles annually. For 2026, the deadlines are March 18 and September 16, each closing at 3:00 PM ET. Interested organizations must submit their applications through an online portal. The application requires detailed information including project objectives and expected outcomes, the amount requested, a comprehensive budget for both the project and overall operations, an outline of the organizational mission and staffing, and a list of the board of directors. A signed grant agreement form is required if funding is awarded. The evaluation process includes review by the HCF Grants Committee, followed by final approval from the Foundation’s Board of Directors. Applicants are notified within two weeks of the board meeting. If awarded, a Grant Recipient Report must be submitted within 30 days after project completion. This report includes a summary of project results and documentation that the required public acknowledgments were made. These include mention in newsletters, use of the HCF logo or name in program materials, acknowledgment on social media platforms, and inclusion in the recipient’s annual report. Compliance with these requirements is mandatory for future funding consideration. HCF permits only one grant request per 501(c)(3) organization per calendar year. The foundation’s clear submission guidelines, timeline, and expectations reinforce its commitment to transparency and community accountability. While the grant application process does not guarantee funding due to limited resources, each proposal is evaluated on its merits, innovation, and potential benefit to the Hudson community at a given point in time. For questions or assistance, applicants are encouraged to contact the Foundation office directly at (330) 655-3580 or via email at [email protected]. All applications must be completed and submitted through the designated grant portal. The foundation’s office is located at 49 E. Main Street, PO Box 944, Hudson, OH 44236.
