The Parke County Community Foundation offers a range of grant opportunities aimed at enhancing and enriching the Parke County community. Grants are awarded through various methods, including an open, competitive grant application process, recommendations from advised fund donors, or as part of estate gifts. The common objective across all funding avenues is to foster community improvement.
Grants from the Community Grant Program are open to both new and existing charitable organizations and community agencies with a charitable purpose that serves Parke County. Funding is available to support efforts that either address existing community needs or build the community's capacity through new or expanded programs.
Applications are accepted year-round, with the process beginning by accessing grant applications through the Foundationโs website. Funding priorities include agriculture, community development, education, family support, fine arts and cultural initiatives, health and human services, historic preservation, recreation, religion, scholarships, and youth development. This targeted approach ensures that grants are directed toward initiatives that promote vibrant, inclusive, and thriving communities.
Once submitted, grant applications are reviewed by the Foundation Board. Requests for $1,000 or less receive a decision within 7 to 10 days, while larger requests receive notification within 90 days. Applications are evaluated on eligibility and predetermined criteria by the Grants Committee, with potential outcomes including full approval, partial approval, or denial.
Eligibility is extended to organizations conducting qualified charitable activities, typically those recognized by the IRS under 501(c)(3) status. However, organizations without such status may apply if their project demonstrably assists the needy or promotes well-being within Parke County.
