A Fund for Women (AFFW), a giving initiative of the Madison Community Foundation, supports nonprofit organizations that advance women's economic empowerment in Dane County, Wisconsin. The Fund is dedicated to increasing opportunities for underserved women and those who identify as women, particularly populations facing systemic injustices such as Black, Latinx/e, Hmong, Asian, Indigenous, LGBTQIA2S+, and those with disabilities.
The 2025 grant process begins with a Letter of Inquiry (LOI) due by Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. via the AkoyaGo GoApply platform. Selected applicants will be invited to submit a full grant application by Wednesday, May 21, 2025, with final applications due Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. Grant awards will be announced after final approval by the Board of Governors in September 2025.
AFFW seeks to fund initiatives related to workforce development, education (excluding individual scholarships), advocacy, mentorship programs, and support services. Multi-year and unrestricted grants are also considered at the Advisory Committee's discretion. Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) nonprofits located in Dane County.
Funded organizations are required to complete a Grant Evaluation Report within three months of project completion. The report must summarize project activities, outcomes achieved, conclusions for future improvements, and a final financial report comparing actual expenses to the original budget.
