Grant Description

The Hunger to Health Collaboratory (H2HC) is offering its 2025 Prizes for Innovation to recognize nonprofit organizations that are advancing systemic change in food and nutrition to support health equity for youth in the United States. This initiative underscores H2HC’s mission to ensure a food-secure and healthy future, particularly for young individuals up to age 18. This year, the prize program is enhanced through a collaboration with the Newman’s Own Foundation to extend support to more organizations across three distinct thematic areas. The program will distribute a total of $300,000 in prizes across two main tiers. Two organizations whose work centers on food and nutrition policy to drive systemic improvements in health equity for youth will each receive a $100,000 prize. Additionally, four organizations will be awarded $25,000 each for efforts focused on nutrition education and school food programs or Indigenous food justice for youth. These awards are aimed at acknowledging innovative and inclusive projects that are community-rooted and have a strong vision for long-term impact. To be eligible, nonprofit projects must be based in the United States and exclusively serve youth aged 18 and under. Projects must clearly fall into one of the following categories: food and nutrition policy work that advances health equity for youth, nutrition education and school food, or Indigenous food justice for youth. The initiatives should present novel and transformative approaches capable of changing existing systems and should highlight leadership and collaboration within the communities they aim to benefit. Applicants are expected to articulate how their work aligns with inclusivity principles, including involvement of stakeholders such as youth, caregivers, educators, and community leaders. They must also demonstrate systemic thinking by outlining a long-term strategy, and provide 2 to 4 SMARTIE goals that reflect strategic, measurable, ambitious, realistic, time-bound, inclusive, and equitable outcomes over a 12-month period. The application process opened on Tuesday, May 20 at 9:00 am EDT and will close on Tuesday, July 1 at 8:00 pm EDT. Winners will be notified during the week of September 15 to 19. The awardees will be formally recognized at the H2HC Fall Summit scheduled for Thursday, November 6. Applications must be submitted via the JustFund.Us platform. Additional resources, including guidance on SMARTIE goal setting, are available through The Management Center’s website. Specific contact information for H2HC or the application support team is not listed on the announcement page. Applicants are encouraged to check the H2HC website or the JustFund.Us application portal for further contact details and FAQs.
