ASPCA Fund to End Factory Farming
This funding opportunity supports local and regional initiatives aimed at preventing the expansion of factory farms and promoting humane, sustainable farming practices in the U.S.
The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) is offering the 2025 ASPCA Fund to End Factory Farming to support local, regional, and state campaigns dedicated to curbing the spread of factory farms, highlighting the adverse impacts of industrial animal agriculture, and promoting more humane and sustainable farming practices. This grant opportunity specifically targets projects aimed at either preventing the establishment of new factory farms in communities or tracking and addressing the negative effects of existing industrial agriculture operations. All projects must include a public dissemination component, such as policy reports, whitepapers, digital media, webinars, or similar public-facing educational materials. Applicants are expected to articulate a theory of change and demonstrate how the project’s outcomes will benefit broader stakeholders through knowledge sharing or community engagement. The ASPCA has partnered with the Socially Responsible Agriculture Project (SRAP) to support the review process for applications, though final funding decisions remain with the ASPCA. The total funding pool for this grant is $100,000, with individual grant awards typically ranging from $5,000 to $20,000 and a maximum award of $30,000. Eligible applicants include U.S.-based nonprofit, for-profit, and public entities actively engaged in local, regional, or state efforts against industrial agriculture expansion. Groups without an established nonprofit or for-profit legal status may still be considered if they demonstrate prior activism against factory farming and a commitment to formalizing their structure before receiving funds. Projects that do not directly contribute to transitioning away from factory farming in the United States, or that are solely nationally focused, are ineligible. The grant application period opens on April 10, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. ET and closes on May 30, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. ET. Finalists will be notified around August 18, 2025, with final funding decisions expected by October 2, 2025. An information session regarding the RFP will be held on April 24, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. ET. Applications must be completed in one session through an Airtable form, as progress cannot be saved or revised after submission. For inquiries about the program itself, applicants are directed to contact Suzanne McMillan at suzanne.mcmillan@aspca.org, and for technical submission issues, contact grants@aspca.org.
