Grant Description

The Bliss, Gross, Horowitz Fund was established at the Rhode Island Foundation to support charitable Jewish community organizations located in and serving the greater Providence area. The fund aims to foster connections between the Jewish community and all Rhode Islanders, support projects that deepen understanding of Jewish life and culture, provide for basic human needs, and strengthen Jewish institutions through organizational development. Funding is directed toward projects that develop community service initiatives led by Jewish organizations, advance scholarship and historic preservation related to Jewish life, deliver essential services such as food, clothing, housing, or prescription assistance, and support organizational capacity-building activities such as strategic planning and program evaluation. All capacity-building requests must include a scope of work. Projects must be non-sectarian and designed to reach beyond an institution’s core constituency. Capital requests are not eligible for funding. Eligible applicants include charitable Jewish community organizations located in and serving the greater Providence area. Projects must clearly articulate their goals, measurable outcomes, and sustainability plans. Organizations must demonstrate the capacity to successfully implement their proposed initiatives. The application process requires submission through the Foundation’s online system. Applicants must complete the Small Grant Programs application form, provide a detailed budget, and submit their most recent financial audit or IRS Form 990. Applications become available six weeks before the deadline. Proposals will be evaluated based on the clarity of project goals and outcomes, organizational capacity, sustainability planning, and the project’s alignment with the fund’s objectives. The deadline for submission is July 11, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. For more information or assistance, applicants can contact Helen Morales, Grants & Community Investments Senior Associate, at (401) 427-4013 or via email at info@rifoundation.org.
