Anchor Impact Fund
This initiative provides financial support to nonprofit organizations in the Midlands Region of South Carolina for projects that enhance health, education, family stability, and community vitality.
The Anchor Impact Fund is a donor-advised grantmaking initiative established by Anchor Investment Management to support nonprofit organizations in the Midlands Region of South Carolina. Created in celebration of the firm’s 25th anniversary, the fund reflects Anchor’s longstanding commitment to service, community impact, and strategic charitable giving. Over the years, Anchor Investment Management has assisted clients in legacy planning and philanthropic endeavors, and the Anchor Impact Fund continues this mission by offering targeted grants to support high-impact projects that align with pressing local needs. The Anchor Impact Fund awards grants ranging from $500 to $5,000 to eligible 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that primarily serve the Midlands Region. This geographic focus encompasses the central counties and communities of South Carolina. Applicants must demonstrate that their proposed projects directly benefit residents within this region. All funded projects must begin by the applicable start date of the designated grant cycle. Projects are expected to support long-term outcomes and may not be one-off events with minimal ongoing impact. The fund’s grantmaking is structured around four central pillars: Health, Education, Families, and Communities. Projects related to Health should improve the physical, mental, or emotional well-being of individuals, and may focus on access to care, prevention, or health education. Education initiatives should enhance learning outcomes across age groups, supporting literacy, skill development, and academic success. Family-focused programs are designed to bolster household stability, safety, and resilience, targeting children, caregivers, or entire family units. Community-focused projects aim to improve structural and social conditions in neighborhoods, emphasizing connection, civic engagement, and overall community vitality. There are two grant cycles each year. Cycle 1 supports projects under the Health and Education pillars, with applications due April 1 and project start dates beginning July 1. Cycle 2 is intended for projects under the Families and Communities pillars, with a deadline of September 1 and a January 1 start date. Applicants must submit their proposals in the cycle corresponding to their project’s primary focus area. Eligible uses of grant funds include project expenses, capacity-building efforts, staffing, training, evaluation, supplies, or participant support. However, the Anchor Impact Fund does not support fundraising events, galas, sponsorships, capital campaigns, or large-scale construction projects. Organizations must ensure their applications clearly articulate the expected impact and alignment with one of the fund’s four pillars. By emphasizing community well-being through focused, strategic investments, the Anchor Impact Fund serves as a vital tool for nonprofits working to create positive change in central South Carolina. Its grant cycles, clear funding criteria, and localized mission reflect Anchor Investment Management’s continued dedication to meaningful and sustainable philanthropic engagement.
