Leaders in Agriculture Program
This program recognizes and honors influential individuals in Colorado's agriculture industry for their leadership and contributions to the state's $40 billion agriculture economy.
The Leaders in Agriculture recognition program, organized by the Denver Business Journal, is designed to honor influential individuals within Colorado’s agriculture industry. This initiative acknowledges professionals whose work supports the state's $40 billion agriculture economy, encompassing a broad range of sectors such as crop and livestock production, education, biotechnology, agribusiness, water management, and food production. Candidates must be based in Colorado, with their professional efforts directly contributing to the advancement of the state's agriculture industry. While individuals from any related field may be nominated, the eligibility criteria specify that prior honorees are eligible again, and self-nominations are both accepted and encouraged. There is a limit of three nominations per company, and nominees must commit to an online interview and participation in a presentation event scheduled for late March 2026. They will be featured in a special section of the Denver Business Journal's March 20 edition and recognized at a networking reception on March 19. Judging focuses on demonstrated leadership in promoting or improving the agriculture industry in Colorado, as well as community involvement over the past five years. Evaluation includes service on boards, membership in professional or civic organizations, and general influence on the broader community. A compelling nomination will provide measurable impact, clear storytelling, and focus on professional achievements without unnecessary embellishment. Nomination submissions must be completed using the Denver Business Journal’s online form. Submissions become the property of the organization and may be used for publication. The selection process is led by the Business Journal’s editorial team and may include external judges. All decisions are based on merit, achievements, and impact within the industry and community. Nominations opened on August 12, 2025, and will close on January 7, 2026. The recognition program is not a traditional grant opportunity with monetary awards but serves as a high-profile professional acknowledgment.
