Grant Description

The Arts in Society grants program, a collaborative initiative by the RedLine Contemporary Art Center, aims to fund individuals and organizations that integrate arts and culture into projects promoting social justice and community welfare. This program directly aligns with the foundation's mission to foster cross-sector work through the arts, recognizing art as an integral element for addressing societal challenges and enhancing the well-being of Coloradans. Since its inception in 2017, the program has demonstrated its commitment to this mission by distributing over $2 million to 91 projects across the state, showcasing a strategic priority to leverage creative solutions for community problems. The primary beneficiaries of this grant program are Colorado artists, activists, non-profit organizations, universities, schools, and government agencies. The program targets communities facing significant challenges, with an overarching impact goal of improving the health and well-being of Coloradans through artistic and cultural integration. By supporting diverse projects, the grants aim to cultivate a broader understanding of the arts' role in society and to foster a more engaged and culturally relevant community. The program's priorities and focuses are clearly defined by the selection panel's criteria. Projects are sought that broaden the understanding of the arts' role in society, demonstrate cross-sector collaboration, exhibit cultural relevancy, foster community engagement, illustrate artistic excellence, and present opportunities for shared learning. These criteria underscore the foundation's strategic approach to not only fund artistic endeavors but also to ensure these endeavors are deeply embedded within community needs and contribute to measurable social outcomes. Expected outcomes include the successful implementation of projects that effectively utilize the arts to promote social justice and community welfare. Measurable results are anticipated through the projects' ability to demonstrate cross-sector work, increase community engagement, and enhance cultural relevancy, as evaluated by the selection panel. The RedLine Contemporary Art Center's theory of change posits that by supporting projects that integrate arts into critical disciplines, they can effectively address complex community problems and foster a more vibrant, just, and well-rounded society across Colorado.
