Grant Description

The Agriculture Production Resource Opportunity (AgPro) Grant Program is a strategic funding initiative administered by the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) under the direction of the Texas Agricultural Finance Authority (TAFA). The program was established by the Texas Legislature in 2025 to support the continuity, expansion, and resilience of agricultural businesses throughout the state. Its core mission is to preserve the agricultural use of land, encourage economic development through farming and ranching enterprises, and strengthen supply chains critical to the state’s agricultural economy. This grant program specifically targets Texas-based agricultural producers. These are defined as individuals or entities engaged directly in commercial agricultural activities such as crop production, livestock, aquaculture, forestry, nursery stock, or hydroponics, with at least 50% of gross income derived from those operations. Through a competitive application process, eligible producers can access financial support to enhance infrastructure, improve operational efficiency, and invest in durable equipment and technology necessary for business sustainability and growth. AgPro grants range from $5,000 to $500,000 and are awarded on a reimbursement basis. All recipients are required to contribute matching funds. The match percentage depends on the total grant amount requested: 10% for awards up to $100,000, 20% for awards between $100,000.01 and $250,000, and 30% for awards between $250,000.01 and $500,000. Grant funding may only be used for allowable expenses outlined in the program’s official guidance, which includes a range of infrastructure upgrades and equipment purchases that contribute to long-term productivity. Funds cannot be used for debt service or items unrelated to production capacity. The application window for the 2026 cycle opens on April 1, 2026, at 10:00 AM Central Time and closes on May 14, 2026, at 5:00 PM Central Time. Two pre-application webinars are scheduled to assist potential applicants in understanding program requirements: the first on April 16 and the second on April 28. Applications must be submitted through the TDA-GO online portal, and while a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) is not required, early preparation is strongly encouraged to complete account setup in time. AgPro is a competitive grant program, meaning not all applicants will receive funding. Applications will be evaluated based on strength, feasibility, and alignment with program goals. While no pre-application (e.g., LOI) is required, applicants are advised to review all program documentation thoroughly, including the official Request for Grant Application (RFGA), the AgPro Allowable Expense Guidance, and the FAQ document provided on the TDA website. Recipients will be expected to comply with post-award reporting and programmatic oversight from TDA. For additional questions, applicants may contact the TDA Grants Office by email at [email protected] or by phone at 833-380-8282. All details, including submission guidance and eligibility clarification, are further documented in the official program RFGA, available via a downloadable PDF link on the program's webpage.
