Giving Joy Grants
This program provides financial support to women worldwide to help them start or grow businesses, NGOs, or projects that create a positive social impact for women, girls, and families.
Giving Joy is a philanthropic initiative that offers microgrants to support women entrepreneurs and changemakers around the world. Beginning in 2026, Giving Joy has shifted its grantmaking model from multiple regional rounds to two simplified global cycles each year—Spring and Fall. This change was made to enhance the efficiency and fairness of the process for both applicants and the organization's small volunteer-led team. Under the new system, women from any country or territory can apply during the designated application windows, and the same criteria and processes apply regardless of geography. The grant program is designed to empower women to launch or expand businesses, nonprofits, or projects that benefit not only themselves but also their families and communities. While there is no restriction on the field or sector of work, all proposals must center on creating positive social and economic impact for women, girls, and families. Each project must be legal and focused on community benefit rather than personal consumption or marketing-related expenses. Grants may support training sessions, events, scholarships, or other detailed initiatives with measurable outcomes. Applicants are encouraged to provide specific qualitative and quantitative details to strengthen their submissions. Women aged 18 and older are eligible to apply. There is no requirement to already own a business or NGO—applicants may use the grant to initiate a new venture. Proposals can be submitted in any language that can be translated with Google Translate, and applicants must complete all fields in the online application form. Incomplete applications are not reviewed. Submissions must be made directly through the official Giving Joy website during the open cycle dates; email proposals or partnership requests are not accepted. The Spring 2026 application window opens on April 1 and closes on April 30, with award notifications expected in June. The Fall 2026 cycle will run from September 1 through September 30, with award announcements in December. Each cycle will result in between five and ten grants awarded. The maximum grant amount is $500 USD, and the grant period for implementing the funded project is six months from the time of award and agreement signing. Applications are evaluated in two stages: first, Giving Joy staff review submissions for eligibility and alignment with the organization's mission. Applicants may be contacted for clarification or supplementary materials, such as photographs. A shortlist of approximately 10 applications per cycle is developed based on innovation, community impact, and the clarity of proposed outcomes. The Board of Giving Joy then selects final awardees using the same evaluation criteria. Successful applicants are individually notified by email and are required to participate in a grant orientation meeting, during which the grant terms, deliverables, and reporting expectations are outlined. Once the agreement is signed, recipients begin implementation, with a six-month period to complete their project.
