2026 Folklife Community Grant
This grant provides funding to small community organizations in Nevada for projects that celebrate and promote folk arts and cultural traditions within specific communities.
The Fiscal Year 2026 Folklife Community Grant (FLC) offers funding to support programs involving folk artists and culture bearers within small community organizations across Nevada. This grant aims to promote the transmission and presentation of folk arts and traditions that are practiced, valued, and shared by culturally specific communities in the state. Eligible projects include festivals, cultural events, concerts, and gatherings that bring together traditional artists, cultural specialists, and community members. Applicants must be nonprofit organizations based in Nevada with federal tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Organizations must also have active incorporation status with the Nevada Secretary of State, a Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN), and a Unique Entity ID (UEI). Before applying, applicants are required to consult with Folklife Program staff to ensure project eligibility. The grant provides awards ranging from $1,000 to $10,000 for projects lasting one year. Funding up to $5,000 is available without requiring a cash or in-kind match unless the organization has an annual budget over $50,000. The grant period runs from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026. Funds may be used for various project-related expenses including artist fees for applicants and collaborators, facility costs, permanent equipment purchases up to $750, consumable materials and supplies, production costs and materials, marketing and promotion efforts, as well as travel expenses limited to accommodations and transportation. This opportunity supports community-based initiatives that celebrate Nevada’s diverse cultural heritage through folk arts. It encourages collaboration between artists and communities while helping preserve traditions through public presentations or educational activities. Potential applicants should review all eligibility requirements carefully and prepare their proposals in consultation with NAC Folklife Program staff. For more detailed information about the application process or funding guidelines, visit the Nevada Arts Council website. The deadline for submissions is June 1, 2025.
